How do I reduce the noise of my garage door?
The noise produced by your garage door is influenced by a number of factors. Check and tighten every nut and bolt and lubricate the hinges. If they are already worn out, get them replaced. Check your garage door rollers too. If they are made of metal, you can lubricate them as well, by you may also want to consider replacing them with nylon coated ones.
Is an aluminum door better than a steel door?
There are factors that make one door material perform better than the other. Steel doors are sturdier but can suffer from rust. Aluminum doors, on the other hand, are rust resistant but can easily suffer from dents. It all boils down to your specific needs. Another consideration is your locality. If you live near a coastal area, then an aluminum door would be preferable.
What happens if a garage door spring breaks?
There is a loud bang in most cases as a result of the release of the tension from the spring. With a broken spring, your garage door cannot open unless lifted, and this can make the problem even more serious. The best thing you can do is to disconnect the opener, since it can also get damaged if it works without the spring, and to have the component replaced as soon as possible. Remember that this is not a DIY job.
